September 30-October 2, 2016

If you are currently teaching any type of wellness-related class (yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, dance, related modalities), if you are a classroom teacher, or a licensed/trained helping professional of any kind (e.g., counselor, psychologist, social worker, nurse, psychiatrist, CD counselor), you are welcome to take this weekend facilitator training intensive! Graduate students are welcome. You MUST complete the whole weekend agenda to be awarded certification on behalf of Mindful Ohio.

To view a news clip on "Dancing Mindfulness," including an interview with creator Dr. Jamie Marich, go to:

Mindfulness is the simple practice of noticing without judgment, savoring the art of being in the moment. Mindfulness, psychodrama, meditation, and yoga are modalities that can promote wellness and recovery. "Dancing Mindfulness" is a practice developed by clinical counselor Dr. Jamie Marich incorporating all of these elements. Dance becomes the primary avenue through which to access mindful awareness! There are seven basic elements of a "Dancing Mindfulness" class (breath, sound, body, mind, spirit, story, and integrated experience) to help participants experience the attitudes and benefits of mindful awareness. "Dancing Mindfulness" classes range in length from 30 minutes to 2 hours, and they can be designed to accommodate a variety of populations in various settings (e.g., yoga studios, community gatherings, clinical settings, dance studios, churches, gyms).

Dr. Jamie Marich designed "Dancing Mindfulness" as a practice that can be easily learned by people who are experiencing the call to facilitate! As a trauma counselor, the principles of safety, flexibility, and individuality are all worked into the facilitation of "Dancing Mindfulness." Learn from Dr. Marich how to construct a "Dancing Mindfulness" class and make it your own!

Sexual Intelligence: A New View of Sexual Function & Satisfaction

  • 4107 Charlotte Ave Nashville, TN, 37209 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Workshop description:

Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM

What do most people say they want from sex? Some combination of pleasure and closeness. But that’s NOT what most people focus on during sex.

Instead, most people focus on how they look, smell, and sound; what they imagine their partner is thinking; ignoring distracting thoughts & feelings; and most of all, their performance. And that leads exactly to what so many people are afraid of: sexual “dysfunctions” like erection, orgasm, or desire problems. Using an honest, down-to-earth approach that’s both valuable and entertaining, Marty will present an alternative: Sexual Intelligence. After all, sex is much more than an activity—it’s an idea.

Participants will gain:

1. New ways to focus on what brings intimacy and pleasure during sexual interactions;

2. Insight into how each person constructs their own sexual beliefs and limitations--and how to change or expand these.

A certificate of attendance is available.

Dr. Klein's Bio:

Dr. Marty Klein has been a Marriage & Family Therapist and Sex Therapist in San Francisco for 34 years. Marty has written 7 books on sexuality, translated into 15 languages. Marty is frequently quoted by the national media, including The New York Times, Huffington Post, and National Public Radio. Outspoken about many popular and clinical ideas about sexuality, Marty decries psychology’s gender stereotypes, sex-negativity, and what he calls “the Oprah-ization of therapy.” Audiences at his seminars and keynote lectures on four continents unanimously agree—he is practical, thought-provoking, and funny. Internationally recognized as a forensic, clinical, and medical expert in human sexuality, last fall Marty gave two Congressional briefings on evidence-based school sex education.
